KALYPSO MEDIA BRINGING THE ADVENTUROUS JACK KEANE TO THE UK IN MARCH
Leicester
Jack Keane is an amusing, action-packed Point 'n' Click Adventure with loads of allusions to well-known computer games and classic movies. Players assume the role of daring adventurer Jack and accompany him in his travels during the early colonial era. Once again short on cash, no sooner does Jack accept a relatively innocent assignment than he's up against a truly mad scientist and his army of trained apes. The game takes Jack to settings such as London, Capetown and the jungles of India - and he wouldn't be Jack if he didn't run into shifty characters wherever he goes...
From German developers Deck13 and Kalypso Media UK Jack Keane is due for release in March 2008.
Whether it’s the big city, the Seven Seas or the deepest, darkest jungle - Jack Keane never backs down from a challenge. Just what shape he’ll be in at the end is another question entirely...

KALYPSO MEDIA TO BRING "THEATRE OF WAR" TO PC THIS OCTOBER
Leicester / August 2007
Kalypso Media today issued a call to arms to all budding armchair generals with the announcement of Theatre of War for PC this October. In a crowded RTS market, Theatre of War distinguishes itself from the pack by offering a strong emphasis on realism, historical accuracy and real world military tactics. Those seeking a Rambo-esque experience should look elsewhere, discipline and tactical nous are the order of the day to see this one through to the final act.
Developer Battlefront.com has undertaken painstaking research into shell ballstics, advanced damage effects and even specifics such as armour penetration calculations to bring a truly authentic battlefield experience. Such a level of detail, in a strategy title of this kind, allows players to immerse themselves in the command of a wide variety of units, uniforms, vehicles and military hardware in the knowledge that every decision made will affect the battle's outcome.
Spanning six World War II campaigns, players have the choice of fighting through the eyes of American, British, Russian, German, French or Polish commanders across over forty missions based on real WWII battles, be they in the shell scarred plains of Poland, the bullet-riddled beaches of western France or the frozen tundra of the Soviet Empire's eastern reaches. As the Nazis found out to their peril, weather can have a devastating effect on even the best laid plans. Theatre of War demands players make allowances for similar contingency with all four seasons incorporated, each with its own affect on proceedings on the front line.
Theatre of War offers a thinking man's WWII strategy experience for the RTS fan looking for more than just big guns and a lot of whizz-bang. To fail to prepare is to prepare to fail, and such a mentality must be central to your plans if you are to march victorious through the streets of Berlin or else face your final curtain!
Kalypso will be at Leipzig GC '07, Hall 1 J39, with a number of titles on show. Theatre of War will be published by Kalypso Media for PC this October, priced £29.99
KALYPSO ANNOUNCES "STAR ASSAULT" FOR RELEASE THIS SEPTEMBER FOR PC
Leicester / July 2007
No, Russell Crowe hasn't attacked another hotel clerk, but Kalypso media has announced a new space shooter. Star Assault is due for release this September for PC and promises to offer more drama than any celebrity courtroom could ever hope.
When humankind took to the stars to search out new energy sources, rapid successes brought huge rewards in the advancement of travel, exploration and colonisation. Some thought they had taken it too far, they were right. In 2253 the human pioneers found themselves under brutal attack from the vicious alien race dubbed the Sparks. Cut off from Earth due to the destruction of their warp gate, their only route back, the intrepid explorers now must battle for their very survival, and maybe even a way home.
A rich story-based campaign offers players the chance to pilot a star fighter and accomplish the death-defying missions against the Sparks. From humble beginnings in a small ship, players can work their way through the ranks, improve their skills and eventually command wingmen in battle. Complex opponent A.I. ensures you won't be mastering any predetermined attack patterns, while real-time space jumps make getting from A to B just that bit faster.
Between missions, upgrading one's fly machine is essential to avoid an early union with the great beyond. Shields, reactors and propulsion can be adjusted and replaced in order to stay one step ahead of the enemy. Weapons vary from lasers and rail guns to heat seekers and rockets to give you all the firepower you could possibly need to see off your grizzly foe. Star Assault will offer galactic battles to warm the hearts of any sci-fi shooter fan, and not an angry Colin Farrell in sight.
Published by Kalypso media, Star Assault is due for a September release for PC, priced £19.99.
KALYPSO ANNOUNCES "HOLLYWOOD PICTURES 2" FOR PC THIS SEPTEMBER
Leicester / July 2007
Kalypso media today rolled out the red carpet for the announcement Hollywood Pictures 2 for PC this September. The aim of the game is producing blockbuster hits for the movie hungry masses. Starting with a shoestring budget, amateur camera crews, wannabes, 'has-beens' and 'never-has-been' actors, dig out a winner and you'll soon find your way on the road to Scorsese status.
Players are responsible for every facet of the movie making process from script to screen. Screenplays can be bought from aspiring writers or written yourself for a truly personal project. Once financial backing has been secured from the bank, hiring your star, co-star and supporting roles are next on the list of priorities, along with choosing the right camera crew, make-up artists and special effects team.
The scruffy movie studio site you inherit at the beginning of the game can be expanded to help ease the costs of big movie production. In addition to your basic production house, special effects studios, acting colleges and even a fire department can be constructed to quell those inevitable pyrotechnical accidents on set, which can cost you valuable days filming!
As with any major movie project, yours must be on budget, on time and screened to rapturous applause. Starting with the ambition of producing a film with a '10' rating, aspiring Spielbergs can also target a place for one of their films in the all-time charts, and not forgetting to be in the academy's mind when Oscar time comes around. It can be a rotten business that'll chew you up and spit you out, but stay focused, keep the hits rolling and it will be your handprints outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Pubished by Kalypso media, Hollywood Pictures 2 will be released for PC this September priced £19.99
